Sue Says

Did You Know . . .

It wasn't always called Times Square ??

It used to be called

Longacre Square.

Only after the New York Times moved its headquarters into the newly erected Times Building in 1904, did it pick up its current nickname.

Did You Know . . .

The Empire State Building's mast holds a secret ??

The spindly tower or mast on the top of the building was originally intended to be a mooring point for airships,

also known as blimps.

In the early 20th century airships were seen as a hot new mode of transport.

Only one airship ended up

ever docking at the

Empire State Building!
